The simplest description of the eye is that it is the organ of vision. The eye is not shaped like a perfect sphere; rather it is a fused two-piece unit. The littler frontal unit or corneais more bended, and joined to the bigger unit called the sclera. The smaller frontal unit, more curved, called the cornea is linked to the larger unit called the sclera. The human eye is complex enough to warrant consideration past the obligations of a general specialist. The reason eyes require specialized attention is also because eyes are most precious of all our sense organs. Go here for more information.

An eyelid is a thin fold of skin that covers and protects the eye. The skin of eyelid is one of the thinnest skins on our whole body. The human eyelid is characterized by a column of eyelashes that serve as a shield from dust and sweat. Eyelids also helpspread the tears and other secretions on the eye surface to keep themmoist. It even keeps our eyes moist even while we are sleeping. We all know that eyelids are very essential. However, in some cases eyelids might have a few deformities and can't work proficiently. Blepharal means pertaining to the eyelids and Blepharoplasty is the plastic surgery for correcting deformations and disfigurations of the eyelids. Some undergo this surgery for aesthetically altering the eye region of the face; while others to fix defects caused at the time of birth or in an accident.

Blepharoplasty has indeed come under spotlight worldwide and India is no exception. Interestingly, the demand for cosmetic surgery in India has risen drastically over the previous decade. This is a big reason why so many cosmetic surgeons in India have opened their own clinics.

The operative goal of a blepharoplasty procedure isthe restoration of the correct functioning and aestheticsof the affected eyelid. This is achieved by following either or all of these steps - removing excess skin from the eyelid, smoothening the underlying eye muscles, tightening the supporting structures, and resecting and re-shaping the region. The result is a smooth eye and natural anatomic transition from the lower eyelid to the cheek.

Only skilled cosmetic surgeons can do blepharoplasty. The surgery is performed by making external surgical cuts along the regular skin lines of the eyelids. A blepharoplasty operation typically requires 1-3hours to finish. The swelling and scars, resulting from the operation, subside within a couple of weeks. The actual results, however, only show up after a few months. The outcome of a blepharoplasty surgeryis best acknowledged by analyzing preand post- treatment photos of the eye area of the patient.

Eyelid surgery in India is offered in numerous urban areas and its cost differs across clinics and requirements of patients. Whether you are going in for blaspharoplasty for medical reasons or cosmetic reasons, it is always advisable to consult a reputed surgeon and discuss the risk involved and the expected results.
